Exclusive interview with the doctor who saved Christian Eriksen's life
More than a billion TV-viewers saw the drama at Parken in Copenhagen a year ago when the Danish national team player Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest in the middle of the European Championship match against Finland.
Hjärtuppropet went to Copenhagen and met the doctor Morten Boesen who saved Christian’s life.

Together we save lives
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) can occur at anytime and anywhere, and most often occur in the home environment – it is you and your loved ones who could be affected. Of the 6,000 people who suffer from SCA outside of hospital care each year, only 10 % survive. We need to save more!
Hjärtuppropet is an initiative aimed at getting more people trained in CPR and spreading the knowledge about how AEDs work and how they are used. We want to get more AEDs placed where the cardiac arrests really happen. The existing AEDs need to be available – not like today when 9 out of 10 AEDs aren’t available around the clock. 10 out of 10 should be available!
We need to raise awareness that SCA concerns us all, young and old – so help us spread the word, together we will save many more lives.

Chain of Survival
Recognize SCA
If a person is unresponsive and not breathing normally, call 112 (Sweden).
Early CPR
Early CPR helps protect vital organs until help arrives.
Early defibrillation
If an AED is used within 3 minutes the survival chance is 70-80 %.
Early advanced care
After a cardiac arrest, it is important to receive continued care, monitoring, and controls to increase the possibility of a continued healthy life.

Save a heart
How can we save more lives?
- Sign the petition for more AEDs
- Make all AEDs available 24/7
- Register all AEDs in the AED register so that they can be found
- Get more people to learn CPR
- Get everyone over 18 with CPR knowledge to become an SMS Lifeguard
More lives can be saved.
Together we can influence
the country's municipalities and regions.

Defibrillators should be present and visible
All AEDs outside of hospital can and should be registered in the AED register. Then they will be visible on a map so that private citizens and the emergency call operators can see where the AEDs are located geographically.
Today, far from all AEDs are registered.
Defibrillators where the cardiac arrests occur
Most AEDs are located in places with limited opening hours. What happens when the office or the factory closes? The AEDs are behind lock and key. Completely inaccessible to save lives.
We also know that the majority of cardiac arrests occur during our free time and in our home environment, where there are very few AEDs. Every second is important.
More AEDs are needed in residential and leisure areas! But not everyone needs to own one. Why not get together with your neighbours in the tenant-owner association or in your residential area and get a communal AED and place it outdoors. Ask your local municipality to place some of their AEDs outdoors so that they are accessible around the clock.

We who are behind Hjärtuppropet
Together we are stronger. Hjärtuppropet was born for the same reasons that we run our businesses. With more deployed AEDs with around the clock availability for all citizens, as well as more CPR trained people, we can save many more lives than we do today.
